In my book Angels and Engineers, I talk about a visit from angels one night while reading in bed. Three things stand out from that experience.
Who, me? I was shocked they bothered to make an appearance. I was touched when one of them told me “We are real; you are not alone.” Cool.
Sheer numbers. I was totally amazed by the sheer number of them that appeared. It started as two and then there were more and soon I was faced with a houseful. They were pouring out of every room, standing on the stairway, and yet they continued to appear until my whole house and room seemed filled with angels.
Sheer size. I’d heard many stories of angels being really tall and big. I actually know some people who have seen these large angels and when asked, each one told me they were never frightened or intimidated by the size. I wasn’t intimidated or frightened so much as truly impressed. Like wow!
I didn’t see or communicate with angels after that. Oh, I talk to them, including thanking them for help, but I hadn’t gotten any communication/answer that I felt was directly from the angels. Over time, I began to wonder if they cared anymore or if that experience filled my life quota for interactions with angels.
Not so fast. Several days ago I saw a book on angels in a bookstore. I looked it over but decided it wasn’t what I was looking for so I put it back. That night on the way home I saw an article about an angel. Knowing people who would enjoy that story, I forwarded it and ended up hearing more miraculous stories and engaging in conversation that left me realizing the angels were still around.
Angels whispering. Since seeing it in the store, I hadn’t been able to get that angel book out of my mind. I kept reminding myself that it wasn’t what I was looking for – a lot of stuff in the book wouldn’t interest me - and yet something kept whispering that there was a message in it for me.
Nothing to lose. Last night I bought the book on kindle. I figured if nothing else I would read about wonderful things happening to everyday people.
I’m one of those who really enjoys hearing about good things happening to other people.
I went straight to the table of contents and zeroed in on the chapter I suspected contained the message meant for me.
The message. What I took away from it is that the angels are ready to help but we have to ask. I put down the story and readied for bed, thinking about how I would word the request for help. After several minutes of consideration, I went ahead and let loose my request for aid.
Big things in small packages. Less than a minute after making the request, a strange light appeared in my room. Small and distant, it first appeared like a little glowing bird. It came closer and its flight turned to a flutter and as I watched the strange beautiful light it transformed from a bird into an angel. As it fluttered close to the ceiling at the foot of my bed, glowing white, shaped as a small angel, a kaleidoscope of colors pulsed around it. It was incredibly beautiful. I smiled and thanked the angel for the confirmation. Obviously, the angel had heard my request for assistance.
By the numbers. Apparently, I hadn’t understood completely, for no sooner did I say thank you, several more angels appeared. Within minutes my room was filled with dozens of small fluttering incredibly beautiful angels of light. Some were surrounded in the pulsing colors, some were just white shapes of angels. Only one had a halo though all of them had beautiful wings. Some fluttered and some hovered in place. All of them were tiny in size.
I had asked the four archangels (Michael, Raphael, Uriel, and Gabriel) for assistance regarding different challenges. The acknowledgment was more than I was expecting.
The answer. This morning while taking a shower I got the answer to the primary issue that was hanging over my head. It was just like the author said…ask the angel(s) for help and you will be answered.
Borrow faith. I’ve been struggling with a few different issues and in reality didn’t have the faith to take me to the next step. In reading that article, in hearing stories from others, and in reading the author’s suggestion to ask the angels for help, I was able to borrow faith until my own was strengthened.
The book was by Doreen Virtue. I’ve got a few of her books and I’ve got a couple of her card decks. I love that she writes positive stories filled with light and love, stories that give hope.
