My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? – John 14:2
I remember the first time I heard this in Catholic grade school. I pictured a huge mansion up in heaven, complete with bathrooms, and outdoor gardens. As an adult I have a different take.
In Dreams. In 2010, while going through a period of intense stress, I began to have dreams wherein a good friend of mine would appear and walk with me out toward a lighthouse on a jetty. We would talk and just before waking he would assure me that it was all going to be alright.
This friend and I worked together years ago and though we have kept in touch, he runs his own company which leaves him traveling extensively. As a result, we have very little communication and rarely see each other.
In Business. In the ensuing years I would have dreams wherein this friend and I walked along a path discussing various business topics.
Both of us were running a business we’d started.
Sometimes, he had supportive words for me. Other times, I was helping him with advice on situations.
When I woke, I would email him and tell him about the dreams, lest they contain information he might need.
Path to a Room. One of the more recent dreams stood out from the rest. In it, I was at a conference center. There were multiple rooms with round tables covered in white cloths and surrounded by chairs. There were almost no people there.
In one room, a ghost who has been helpful in the past appeared with advice very specific to where I was in my career development. After listening to him and not necessarily liking what I heard I walked over to another room.
The advice was solid. I just didn’t think I was ready to take such a step.
In the other room, my friend sat alone at one of the tables. I walked up and he gave me the very same advice the ghost had. He also added “I mean, this is important to you, isn’t it?”
Rooms are Celestial Planes. In my books After Here The Celestial Plane and What Happens When We Die and Angels and Engineers, I talk about Spirit School. I describe it as a room where celestial beings teach.
I now realize that those rooms are actually different celestial planes of existence.
In my dream, the spirit was in one room, waiting to advise me on my career. In another, my friend who is very much alive, was waiting with his own words of wisdom. In Spirit School? The angels teach in a room that appears as a library/classroom. I describe transitioning between the planes by way of a hallway.
So yes, there are many rooms and we are able to move through many of them even now while we live.
